A Summer Houston Club Wedding

Ryan and Emily are MARRIED! I’m so excited to be sharing this blog post with you. Their wedding day was full of love, joy, and FUN! I met Emily ten years ago at the University of Houston (Go Coogs!). We were in band together and we both studied music education so we were in a lot of the same classes! A couple of years ago at a wedding we were shooting, Emily and Ryan told us that they wanted us to shoot their wedding one day. It’s so special to have been a part of this season of her life and getting to photograph her marrying her best friend.

Ryan and Emily’s wedding day was full of JOY! I just loved watching Ryan gazing at Emily. He is the sweetest! You can just see on his face how much he adores and loves her. They got married at The Houston Club which is on the 49th floor of One Shell Plaza. We had the most AMAZING view of the city! When Emily and Ryan were venue shopping, they were a little skeptical during the elevator ride, but as soon as the doors opened, they knew it was the PERFECT place to get married. All those second thoughts had vanished away. Everyone who walked into their ceremony was in awe of the view. Their guests had such a treat with a gorgeous sunset right at dinner time. They were getting out of their chairs to take photos through the windows and watch the sunset with their dates. It was such a romantic evening!

Michael and I just loved being around Ryan and Emily’s families the entire day. They treated us like family! During the toasts, Emily’s father thanked every vendor by name. In five years of shooting weddings, I’ve never seen that before! It was incredibly special and I’m impressed he took the time to give everyone credit and thank them for their hard work.

Emily LOVES details! Leading up to the wedding, she sent me pictures of her shoes, perfume,and hangers. I’m not sure who was more excited about them- Emily or me! She even mailed us her invitation suite and I loved getting to play with styling it before the wedding. While I was photographing her details that morning, she said, “I love this part!!” and couldn’t help but sneak a peek. I just love her excitement; it’s so contagious!

And speaking of details, the entire day was full of gorgeous details and decor all designed and put together by Emily’s new sister-in-law, Ashley! I was constantly blown away by all the beautiful touches around their wedding day. Everything was so carefully and creatively thought out. Ashley designed the invitations, the bridesmaids put together their bouquets, and Ryan’s brother, Kevin, built the ceremony archway and even soldered the copper pipes himself. How amazing is that?!
