A Broadacres and McGovern Centennial Gardens Engagement Session

Meet Madeline and Jay! (and Colt!) We met Madeline at her cousins wedding last summer where she was actually a bridesmaid! And now she’s a bride!!! Madeline and Jay will be tying the knot in November at their church, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and then celebrating the night away at Lakeside Country Club!

When Madeline and Jay were choosing where to take their engagement photos, it was a pretty easy choice for them- Broadacres. This area is home to an incredible street (North Boulevard) that has spiraling oak trees arching over a brick pathway. Madeline and Jay come here pretty often to walk their dog, Colt, and enjoy the scenery! They’ve taken family photos here and Jay even thought about proposing here! This is such a special place for them. 

Jay proposed right before Christmas. He had a vision of proposing to Madeline underneath trees wrapped in twinkling lights and, knowing how special North Boulevard was to them, it was the first place he thought to go. However, when he came to scope it out, there were no lights- at all! Not even street lights! It was completely dark. So he found another place that had the lit up trees he was envisioning and asked Madeline to be his wife. It was perfect!

Their session would not have been complete without their yellow lab, Colt. He joined us at the beginning of their session and was the perfect dog model! He sat and looked right at the camera like he had been trained to do so. It was amazing! Once we finished taking portraits at North Boulevard, we drove over to McGovern Centennial Gardens. We photographed underneath the rose arches which were exploding in roses! I don’t think I’ve ever seen them so full. We couldn’t have timed it any better! 

Madeline and Jay, it was so hard to narrow down my favorites for your blog post- there’s a ton!! You were both such a joy to work with and photograph. I can’t wait to do it all over again at your wedding in November!! Enjoy these favorites from your engagement session!
