We’re in a Magazine!

Four years ago today, I photographed my very first wedding.  If you would have told me back then that I would be standing here holding a three page spread of my photos in Weddings in Houston Magazine, I probably would have laughed at you.  But here I am.  A full time wedding photographer unable to contain my excitement because my dream has become a reality!

When we first met Logan and Michelle at Starbucks, I never would have dreamed their wedding would end up in a magazine! But when we stepped inside the wine room at Brennan’s I knew it could easily be in any magazine because it was so unbelievably gorgeous!  A couple days after the wedding I knew I wanted to try and get it featured somehow.

And after researching, reading and learning more and more about how to get weddings published or featured,  I feel like this one sort of fell in my lap.  The floral design company that we worked with, Darryl & Co, advertises their business with Weddings in Houston. They reached out to the magazine to update the photos in their advertisement with one of our photos from Michelle and Logan’s wedding so, of course, we were excited about that!  But then, I got a call from the President of the Magazine, Vic Day, asking us to come down to their office in the Heights.  Michael and I had no idea what to expect.  You guys helped me pick the most perfect outfit and we drove over to meet with the marketing and publication team along with the President of the magazine and his most fluffy husky doggy- Bella (who now follows me on Instagram!) We spoke with them for a good hour.  Vic told us that when Darryl & Co sent their photos in for their advertisement, they saw our images and knew they had to see more.  They loved everything about Michelle and Logan’s wedding and wanted it to be among the hand full of real weddings they feature in their magazine.

Fast forward to July 1st.  I drive down to Kroger and pick up the latest issue of Weddings in Houston Magazine.  I see my pictures,  my name, and Michelle and Logan’s gorgeous wedding.  Y’all, I wasn’t sure whether to dance around or cry from excitement.  I cannot describe this amazing feeling knowing that all the countless hours of hard work and perseverance paid off to making one of my biggest dreams come true.  If I can accomplish this in four years, what will the next four years look like? That very thought makes me so excited!
