Hi there! I'm Joanna Krueger and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team in Houston, TX. We hope you enjoy viewing our latest work and getting a peek into our lives!
Where do I even start with this one? This has been a very long thought process for me for quite some time now. After months of thought and prayer, Michael and I have decided to become specialized in wedding and engagement photography. So we are phasing out maternity, family, children, newborn, and senior sessions and are no longer booking anything other than weddings, bridal, and engagement sessions.
So why the change? Since 2013 when I started my photography business, I have been working two jobs- one as an elementary music teacher during the weekdays, and two, as a photographer on the nights and weekends. I love both of these jobs! I love teaching music and I love photography and the clients that we meet! We have made SO many new friends and have met so many wonderful people! But it was killing me. I would teach from 8-4, come home and go straight to my laptop editing (thousands of) pictures, blogging, emailing, designing albums, ordering prints, scheduling, book keeping, learning, practicing, reading other photographers blogs, until 10, 11, 12:00 at night. No matter how many time managing tips I used and learned, I still had no balance in my life. My whole day was spent working. I was not spending time on things that really needed my attention like Michael and even myself. I was overwhelmed. I was overworked. I was drowning.
I have my share of photographers from across the nation that I follow and learn from. It was Natalie Franke who started The Rising Tide Society for photographers to become inspired by other entrepreneurs and build a sense of community together. Then came the hashtag: #lessworkmorelife. This hit me hard. When Natalie Franke blogged about finding balance in her life, I knew I needed to do the same. I had no life. I had work. I dove deep inside and evaluated how I was spending my time and what I wanted for my business. This is when I decided to make the change.
My passion for photography is documenting moments in life that can never be recreated. By being able to stop time and capture it forever. When I think about what I love most, it’s weddings. I love weddings! It’s my favorite kind of photography and I have invested SO many hours (and dollars) into growing in this field. When I’m honest with myself and what I want from the business, it’s to be a wedding photographer.
Don’t get me wrong, we love ALL our clients! I wouldn’t have made so many new and wonderful friends had it not been for the business! But it’s time for a change. For me, for Michael, and for the business. To all our past clients, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! You have helped shape our business into what it has become today. You have given me everything I needed to get to this point of my photographer career and I couldn’t be here without ALL of you! You will forever hold a place in our hearts (and our blog!)
