Hi there! I'm Joanna Krueger and my husband Michael and I are a wedding photography team in Houston, TX. We hope you enjoy viewing our latest work and getting a peek into our lives!
Megan was in charge of the singles ministry at her church when Jay walked in the door. She knew he was a visitor and didn’t hesitate to ask him to sit with her. Megan had no idea that her life had just changed forever! Megan and Jay began dating shortly after a mission trip to Canada. They spent their time up there showing younger people what it’s like to live for Christ and to show His love and mercy to those around you. A year later, Megan’s family went to Disney World as a family tradition. Jay knew this was the perfect place to pop the question. She wouldn’t suspect anything! Megan thought her family just had regular dinner plans but they had schemed up so much more. Jay surprised her in front of her family with the most important question of their lives. It was perfect!
But sadly, their perfect moment was short lived. Less than twenty-four hours later, Megan was stuck in her hotel room with the flu. And to make things even more interesting, twenty-four hours later, Jay himself was struck down with the flu. It was definitely not the happy ending to the magical Disney proposal they had in mind! But they proved they were meant to be by taking diligent care of each other. They were quarantined together left only to stare at the ceiling in separate twin beds on opposite ends of the room. Whoever felt best at each hour would get up and get the other one crackers. If that’s not true love, I don’t know what is! But even though Megan felt miserable, she would catch a glimpse and a sparkle from her new engagement ring and it made everything instantly better. The thought of marrying her best friend helped her get through her sickness.
We absolutely loved hanging out with these two at their engagement session! It may have been freezing outside, but you would never know with these two! We met them at the ever-beautiful North Boulevard and eventually made our way to the Water Wall by the Galleria. Shooting at the Water Wall was so special to Megan as her parents got engaged there years ago! I just love when our couples have a special connection to their locations. It makes those photos that much more special. When we arrived at the Water Wall, we knew we had our work cut out for us. It was swarming with people! It’s definitely a popular and unique spot in Houston. We had to work strategically to get those epic shots and waited for moments when groups of people would walk away from the spot we wanted. I still can’t believe we got a shot of the ENTIRE Water Wall with NO people! And no photoshop was involved. I’d say that was a blessing in disguise! I’m so happy that Megan and Jay have these sweet memories of their own at the Water Wall. Eventually, they will tell their own children how they took their engagement pictures at the place where their grandparents got engaged. It may just be a family tradition and legacy in the making!
Megan and Jay, you are the sweetest and most genuine couple. The love you have for each other is such a wonderful example to the younger generation. The love of Christ is so evident in your character and as the foundation of your relationship. Thank you for being who you are not only to each other but to the world around you. Enjoy these few favorites from your engagement session!
