Behind the Scenes 2019

Our 2019 wedding season is officially in the books which means it’s time for our annual Behind the Scenes blog post!! We had SO many amazing couples this year and we always feel so honored to get to be a part of their wedding days! Michael and I have been working together for 6 and a half years now. I absolutely love working with Michael! I always tell people that I couldn’t do it with anyone else. We’ve done this so many times together that we’ve gotten it down to a system! I love that I don’t ever have to tell him what to photograph, how to photograph it, when, where, etc…he already knows! Michael knows how to make the pictures from both our cameras and perspectives look consistent. When you’re scrolling through our blog posts, you can’t even tell which photos I took, and which ones he took! I just love that!

This wedding season was a super special one because I got pregnant in May! And since then, I photographed 8 weddings, 5 engagement sessions, and 1 bridal session while pregnant!!! I’m SO proud of myself! It wasn’t always easy but it was SO rewarding. Michael did so much to help me at all those weddings! From helping me get off the floor during detail shots, taking my place as the official dress fluffer, letting me go sit and rest for a while during the reception, and always making sure I’m staying hydrated! I shot our last wedding at 32 weeks pregnant (and had a couple contractions later that night), and now, I’m officially on maternity leave!

Our 2020 wedding season starts the last weekend of April and I’m already so excited to see what’s in store for us! So many people have asked me if I’m slowing down or quitting now that we’re about to become parents. My answer is always NOPE! Hah! I love this job SO much and I’m not ready to give it up. I’ll keep going until I’m too old to physically handle it. This is my calling.

To all our 2019 couples, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for trusting us with your precious memories! We couldn’t do this without you and we love each and every one of you!

I know I’m biased, but he’s just so handsome! The hands of perfection! We do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot! We loved meeting and working with Hannah from Loose Ends Event Design!! The evolution of the veil shot! Say, “cheese!” Loved this Insta story behind the scenes from Loose Ends Event Design! Then there was that time I went to California and photographed the most epic almond blossom session!Tiffany and James brought not one, but TWO stools for me so I didn’t have to fly with mine!
And there was that time Ali and Peter exited in a HELICOPTER! (Fun fact: I was pregnant at this wedding but we hadn’t told anyone!) When Reid actually had his first look with…ME!
Veil shot Part 2! I’m SO proud of myself for shooting weddings while pregnant!!Baby boy was always such a good little shooting buddy! This is me looking over my shoulder and thinking, “Oooh the light is really pretty over there…we should go there next!”  This is Michael redecorating for portraits and holding all the purses and coats for family pictures!
Aww, baby bump!!
Just casually ruining Michael’s shot!
Payback!! Hah!Thank you Coryn for all your help during these portraits!!!
As if Michael wasn’t tall enough….lol! (Also, pillow reflectors for the WIN!) I think I should start a “Michael’s Not Tall Enough” series! Hah! His height really comes in handy for hanging the dress!
….and blocking the sun for me. Michael was always SO good about fixing the train for me so I didn’t have to bend over while pregnant! Again, ruining Michael’s shot. (Sorry, Michael!)Look at that sweet baby bump!!My forever light tester! lol!
That one time Michael was a camera bag model before an engagement session.  Just looking in my bag for……a snack before the ceremony! Hah! Third wheeling in Megan and Cameron’s portraits! When your baby bump gets in the way of detail shots!
Again…Michael to the rescue!! Michael is hands down, THE BEST second shooter I could ever ask for. I couldn’t do this without him!! Thanks for another amazing wedding season!!
