Behind the Scenes 2017

This is definitely not the prettiest post. Nor is it the most flattering. Definitely not the most flattering! But the behind the scenes from 2017 are here! We did our first behind the scenes blog post last year and it was so much fun, I knew I had to make it an annual blog post. So this year, I made it a point to try and take more photos of us. More photos of Michael doing what he does best. This year brought about so many memorable moments for us. We met new brides and grooms and made new friends out of them.  We photographed childhood friends and friends from college. We tried new things and new poses and bought new equipment along the way. We photographed in new places, and in familiar places. This year showed me even more how much I love working with Michael. I say all the time that I couldn’t work with anyone else but it’s the truth. He knows me so well and knows exactly what I want to achieve in photos that we can communicate across the room with each other during the ceremony without saying a word. He does so much for our business and during the wedding day that he is truly invaluable. And now that we’ve officially finished our 2017 calendar, it’s time to share what we look like and what we do behind the scenes.

And no..Michael is not really this tall.  He was standing on the stage.

But speaking of Michael…when it’s really hot outside, he’ll fan you with the reflector.

“OK guys..so this is how it’s going to work..”

“You….

“….are going to look at me.”

So this is why my legs are always sore after engagement sessions! This is what I call, “the broken leg stance.”

And speaking of engagement sessions…Michael is really good at finding the light!

He’s also really good at making sure your dress is perfect.

I mean really perfect.

He’ll even move dead grass out of the way so it’s not in your photo.

He’s my official dress hanger.

And tree shaker.

But neither of us are that great at modeling for the camera.

I don’t even know.

But Michael is really good at finding the sun. And little people.

When I’m concerned about rain, he checks the radar for me.

He’ll even make sure your scarf is wrapped around your shoulders perfectly.

And that your veil is draped just right.

I think I’m telling my camera not to be intimidated by the videographers equipment.

“So…instead of taking portraits, we’re just going to walk around in circles.”

And then there was that time Amber came along as my third shooter!

And then there was the time we worked with amazing videographers, Dakota and Lodden! We have so much in common with them it’s kind of scary. They’re basically the videographer version of us in Louisiana.

Then there was the time a guest insisted that I danced with him.

And that time I ruined Michael’s shot.

And that time Laith had waited his whole life to have his first look with….ME!

No??? Ok, I’ll go get the bride.

Then there was the time I wanted Laith and Nedaa to stand like flamingos and the time the shot was so epic, Michael and I both wanted the same angle.

Thank you Shaimaa for taking these great behind the scenes photos for us!!

And then there was the moment when Laith’s mother pulled us on the dance floor and showed us how to dance.

We just love her!

This year has been so fun and full of amazing clients!!

We’re rolling out of 2017 like….
