Guest Speaking at The Table Workshop | Styled Shoot

A few weeks ago, I was asked to be a guest speaker again! Kate Elizabeth and Ellen Ashton are two amazing wedding photographers and together, they put together and hosted The Table Workshop at The Grand Texana! I’ve second shot for Ellen a couple of times and last year, I was a guest speaker for Kate’s School the Creative workshop so I was thrilled that they asked me to be a guest speaker again! My topic couldn’t have been any better- Client Experience. I am all about client experience! The majority of our business has come from word of mouth marketing and Instagram. I shared my heart about how I love and serve my clients and how our business has sky rocketed by our client experience.

After all the wonderful education is taught, there was what’s called a “Styled Shoot”. This is probably a new concept for some of you. A styled shoot is kind of like a fake wedding. There is a couple dressed up as a bride and groom, bridal details to style (such as an invitation suite, shoes, rings, etc.). Sometimes there’s a cake and a cake table, a reception table, and even a small ceremony mock up. This is all done with the intention of letting photographers who attended the workshop practice all the education they had just learned and to get gorgeous photos to include in their portfolio. It’s also a great way to recharge our creative juices and to see things from new perspectives.

Kate and Ellen really knocked it out of the park on this one. I just loved everything they thought of and put together for this styled shoot! The florals alone were out of the world! (Just wait till you see the ceremony site!) Styled shoots can be a little crazy sometimes because there are usually anywhere between 10-15 photographers who are all trying to photograph the same thing at the same time. But Kate and Ellen really made sure each one of their attendees got all the photos and angles they wanted. They made an assembly line with all the photographers and gave each one of them their own time with the couple to pose them how they wanted and to get all the shots and angles they wanted. I just love how mindful they were of everyone! (Talk about great client experience!)
